Summary

As a method for objective registration of nystagmic responses electronystagmography gives a lot of information about the state of the vestibulo-oculomotor system. Concerning accuracy, reproducibility and objectivity the commonly used methods for diagnostic interpretation of this material are not quite satisfying.

By means of a data acquisition system it is possible to utilize the advantages of the techniques of data processing. In common with fundamental considerations regarding to the choice of the parameters to evaluate the essential parts of the computer-program (calibrations, elimination of interferences, analysis of the fast and slow nystagmic components) are described and examples for the results are shown.

Zusammenfassung

Die Elektronystagmographie liefert bei der Gleichgewichtsprüfung durch die objektive Registrierung nystagmischer Reaktionen umfangreiche Informationen über den Status des vestibulo-okulomotorischen Systems. Die diagnostische Auswertung dieser Unterlagen durch die bekannten Methoden ist hinsichtlich Genauigkeit, Reproduzierbarkeit und Objektivität noch nicht befriedigend.

Die Verfasser berichten über ein Verfahren, bei dem ohne eigene Rechenanlage durch den Einsatz eines Datenerfassungssystems die Vorteile der Datenverarbeitungsmethoden genützt werden können. Zusammen mit grundsätzlichen Überlegungen für die Wahl der Auswertungskenngrößen werden die wichtigsten Punkte des Programms für den Digitalrechner beschrieben und Beispiele für die gewonnenen Ergebnisse vorgestellt.
