Summary
Very small amounts of the specimen (several micrograms) are decomposed on a piece of platinum foil, the decomposing agent being applied in the form of a small drop of a saturated solution. After the decomposition, the platinum foil is placed on a circular filter, fastened with a disk of paper, and then extracted on the ring oven by means of a suitable solvent. In this way the portions of the sample which have gone into solution can be concentrated in the form of a sharply delineated ring.
A number of the usual decomposition techniques were employed in this study. The decomposition and the transfer to the filter paper require no more than a few minutes.
