A new method for the solvent extraction separation and photometric determination of palladium

Summary

TBP has been used for the extraction of palladium(II) from hydrobromic acid medium and a simple extraction scheme developed for separation of palladium from Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Ru(III), Rh(III), Ir(III), and Pt(IV). A spectrophotometric method is described for the determination of palladium with 1-phenyl-2-thiourea. The effects due to acidity, solvents, reagent concentration and diverse ions are reported. The complex is probably of 1 ∶ 1 composition.

Zusammenfassung

Tributylphosphat wurde zur Extraktion von Pd(II) aus bromwasserstoffsaurem Medium herangezogen und ein einfaches Verfahren zur Abtrennung des Pd von Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Ru(III), Rh(III), Ir(III) und Pt(IV) daraus entwickelt. Die spektrophotometrische Bestimmung des Pd mit 1-Phenyl-2-thioharnstoff wurde beschrieben. Über den Einfluß der Acidität, der Lösungsmittel, der Reagenskonzentration und verschiedener Fremdionen wurde berichtet. Die Zusammensetzung des Komplexes entspricht wahrscheinlich dem Verhältnis 1∶1.
