Microdetermination of the phosphate ion using a new reaction

  • Published:
Microchimica Acta Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

A new method for titrimetric determination of the phosphate ion is described, based on a reaction with the sparingly soluble calcium iodate in presence of ammonia. After adding iso-propyl alcohol so that the final alcohol concentration is 65 %, and filtering, the soluble iodate in the filtrate is titrated iodometrically resulting in a 12-fold amplification of the titre in case of phosphoric acid, primary and secondary phosphates and a 18-fold amplification of the titre in case of tertiary phosphates. The results show a standard deviation of 1 %.
