Microdetermination of alkyl-aryl sulfonates

  • Published:
Microchimica Acta Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

A micromethod for the gravimetric determination of alkyl-aryl sulfonates in commercial samples is presented. The method is based on the precipitation of the benzidine salt of alkyl-aryl sulfonates. The operation is carried out in a centrifuge cone and the precipitate is separated by the use of an inverted filterstick after centrifuging. A linear relationship exists between the weight of the alkyl-aryl sulfonate and the weight of the collected precipitate. The precision of the method varies from 4 to 8 parts per thousand.
