Summary
A micro method has been worked out for the separation and identification of the fatty acids C4 to C14. The procedure consists in the conversion of the sodium salts of these fatty acids by means of 2,4-dinitrobenzyl bromide into 2,4-dinitrobenzyl esters, and their chromatographic separation and identification by means of test substances. Dimethylformamide served as the stationary phase, and the mobile phase consisted of a mixture of cyclohexane and petroleum. After separation, the esters were detected by means of acetonic sodium ethylate solution.
