Summary
The limit of identification corresponds to the concentration at which the probability of a positive reaction is 99.7% (certainty). To determine this,m samples are treated repeatedly withN concentrations within the uncertain range of the reaction. The number of positive testsn i is determined for each concentration. Values of the Laplace functionΦ(z) are obtained by means of the empirical partition function
and then the values of ¯C andσ are calculated from the relationC r =c±σ z with the aid of the method of least squares. ForP=99.7%, namely forz=3, the concentrationC r=¯C+3σ gives the identification limit. In case the difference between the theoretical partition functionF(C) and the empirical functionF m (C) is guaranteed with a certain probability, the number of testsm for each of theN concentrations is calculated with the aid of the Kolmogorov partition functionK(λ).
