Spectrophotometric determination of chromium(III) using potassium hexacyanoferrate(II)

Summary

Spectrophotometric determination of Cr(III) at 3.0- to 50-ppm range has been carried out using hexacyanoferrate(II) with a precision of 0.2%. The mean sensitivity for the complex, KCrIII [Fe(CN)5OH] is 1.86μg/ml/0.015 absorbance unit with an accuracy of 0.5% at 3-ppm level. The method has been found to be useful in the presence of a large number of ions. Interference due to some metal ions can be removed.

Zusammenfassung

Eine Methode zur spektrophotometrischen Bestimmung von 3,0 bis 50 ppm Cr(III) mit Hilfe von Hexacyanoferrat(II) wurde ausgearbeitet, deren Genauigkeit 0,2% beträgt. Die mittlere Empfindlichkeit des Komplexes KCr(III) [Fe(CN)5OH] entspricht im 3-ppm-Bereich 1,86μg/ml/0,015 Extinktionseinheiten mit einer Genauigkeit von 0,5%. Das Verfahren ist auch in Anwesenheit vieler Fremdionen brauchbar. Störungen seitens einiger Metallionen lassen sich beseitigen.
