Semiquantitative determination of fat-soluble vitamins by circular thin-layer chromatography

Summary

A method for semiquantitative determination of fat-soluble vitamins such as vitamin A, D₂, D₃, E (α-tocopherol), K₁ and K₃ is described. It involves making “circular spots” or rings on chromatoplates using circular thin-layer Chromatographic apparatus. The method is based on sensitivity and specificity of spot reactions and the comparison of the color intensity of a “circular spot” with that of sensitivity standard. The accuracy of the method is ± 6%. The usefulness of the procedure has been illustrated by determining the fat-soluble vitamins from multi-vitamin tablets.

Zusammenfassung

Ein Verfahren zur halbquantitativen Bestimmung fettlöslicher Vitamine (A, D₂, D₃, E, k₁ und K₃) wurde beschrieben. Es beruht auf der Herstellung kreisförmiger Flecken oder Ringe durch Dünnschicht-Ringchromatographie und auf der Empfindlichkeit und Spezifität von Tüpfelreaktionen. Die Farbintensität der Ringe wird mit der von Standardproben verglichen. Die Genauigkeit beträgt ± 6%. Die Methode wurde an der Bestimmung der fettlöslichen Vitamine in Multivitamintabletten überprüft.
