A spot test for molybdenum through extraction of itso-phenanthroline-thiocyanate complex

  • Published:
Microchimica Acta Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

Molybdenum(VI) reacts witho-phenanthroline and thiocyanate in presence of chlorostannous acid to give a pink complex which can be extracted into benzyl alcohol. 0.025μg of molybdenum in 0.5 ml can be detected by this method. Many coloured ions and complexing agents are without any effect on this detection test.
