Summary
A micro filter, which consists of two different filter layers has been found excellent for rapid filtration, particularly in series determinations in the filtrate. One layer serves as pre-filter, the other as fine filter. Since the lighter more readily exchanged pre-filter takes up the main portion of the precipitate, the actual fine filter remains intact after many filtrations. A layer of cellulose powder makes an excellent fine filter; cotton wool is good for the pre-filter. Both filter layers are housed in aPregl filter tube. It has also been found that good results are secured by using asbestos as fine filter and sea sand as pre-filter.
