Summary
The unsaturated fatty acids of a mixture of fatty acids that has been separated by paper chromatography is made visible by treating the chromatogram with ozone and then spraying with fuchsin-sulfurous acid. The development of the chromatogram is conducted on papers impregnated with liquid paraffin. After pointing out the advantages of this type of impregnation, directions are given for removing unsaturated compounds from the hydrocarbons.
