Summary
The conditions for the formation of iridium(III) ion associates with tin(II) and basic dyes, Malachite Green (MG) and Crystal Violet (CV), in the medium of hydrochloric acid, and their flotation with organic solvents have been examined. The effect of the light on the formation of these ion associates has been observed. Floated compounds, dissolved in polar solvents (methanol, dimethyl formamide), are a basis of the developed sensitive and precise flotationspectrophotometric methods for the determination of iridium. Molar absorptivities amount to 1.55×105l·mole−1·cm−1 at 627 nm in the MG method, and 1.06×105l·mole−1·cm−1 at 595 nm in the CV method. The Beer's law is obeyed in two systems. Interferences of rhodium, platinum and palladium on the iridium determination are serious. Separation of iridium is necessary before its determination with proposed methods. The molar ratio Ir∶Sn∶dye in the separated compounds amounts to 1∶4∶3 in the case of MG, and 1∶4∶1 in the case of CV.
