Determination of inhomogeneity of cast solid solution by X-ray diffraction

Bestimmung der Inhomogenität gegossener Mischkristalle durch Röntgendiffraktion

Summary

The inhomogeneity of cast solid solutions can be determined by analysis of a single X-ray diffractional profile (XPAIC). Measurements carried out on Cu-Sn alloys show that the quantitative characterizing can be done with max. 16% relative error. A great advantage of the method is that the analysed volume is 105...106 times larger than in case of using any microanalyser.

Zusammenfassung

Die Inhomogenität des gegossenen Mischkristalls ist mittels Analyse eines röntgenographischen Interferenzprofils (XPAIC) charakterisierbar. Die mit Cu-Sn-Legierungen durchgeführten Versuche zeigen, daß eine bessere Zuverlässigkeit als 16% durch XPAIC erreichbar ist. Im Vergleich zur Mikrosonde ist der größte Vorteil der XPAIC-Methode das 105-106 mal größere analysierte Volumen.
