Summary
Phosphate and sulphate ions can be separated by strongly basic anion exchangers. Diluted hydrochloric acid is used as eluent for these anions. The detection and quantitative determination of phosphate and sulphate ions is done indirectly by atomic-absorption of calcium. The decrease of the calcium absorption correlates with the concentration of these anions.
