Summary
The spectrophotometric determination of palladium(II) with 5-phenylazo-8-aminoquinoline (PAQ) is described. The method involves the formation of a Pd-APQ complex in dilute HCl solutions and the conversion of this complex into Pd(PAQ)2 by addition of NaOH. This latter complex is extracted into methyl isobutyl ketone and the absorbance is measured at 620 nm. The molar absorptivity is 7.9×104l·mole−1·cm−1. The method is applied to the determination of Pd(II) in catalysts.
Zusammenfassung
Die spektrophotometrische Bestimmung von Palladium (II) mit 5-Phenylazo-8-aminochinolin (PAQ) wurde beschrieben. Das Verfahren beinhaltet die Bildung eines Pd-PAQ-Komplexes in verdünnter Salzsäure und dessen Umsetzung in Pd(PAQ)2 durch Zugabe von Natronlauge. Dieser Komplex wird mit MIBK extrahiert und die Absorbanz bei 620 nm gemessen. Die molare Absorptivität beträgt 7,9×104l· mol−1·cm−1. Das Verfahren wurde zur Pd-Bestimmung in Katalysatoren benützt.
