Abstract
The maximal carboxymethyl cellulase, filter paper (FP) cellulase and β-glucosidase activities achieved byPenicillium janthinellum grown in a fermenter were 60, 5 and 9 U/ml, respectively. Enzymic hydrolysis of 5m NaOH-pre-treated straw, cotton and FP was 57 to 58% in 48 h at 50°C, with glucose as the major product.
