Dechlorination of hexachloroethane by trialkyl phosphites

Summary

  1. 1.

    It has been shown that, when trialkyl phosphites, react with hexachloroethane, the corresponding alkyl chlorides and dialkyl phosphorochloridates are formed together with tetrachloroethylene.

  2. 2.

    It has been established that trialkyl phosphites may be used as dechlorinating agents for highly chlorinated paraffins.
