Summary

The systematic study of different physico-chemical parameters of the reaction of selenium(IV) with six o-diamines has made it possible: (1) to establish for each derivative a pH value at which the reaction rate is maximal; (2) to identify the exact chemical nature of the reacting species, whether they constitute the main reaction of second order, or undergo a slow parallel reaction; (3) to give the chemical form of the reaction product.
