Summary
Determination of Traces of Iodide in Serum and Urine by Ion Chromatography
A rapid routine method is described for the selective determination of traces of inorganic iodide in serum, plasma or urine in the presence of an excess of organic iodine containing compounds. Separation is carried out by ion chromatography, for photometric detection a post-column reaction between chloramine-T and 4,4′-bis(dimethyl-amino)diphenylmethane catalysed by iodide is adapted. The detection limit is about 20 pg injected. Sample preparation is minimal and is done by ultrafiltration for serum and plasma samples or by chromatography for urine samples using disposable reversed phase silica gel cartridges.
