Sensitized fluorescence of naphthacene and quantitative determination by 1,2-benzanthracene on Whatman paper

Microchimica Acta Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

1,2-Benzanthracene sensitizes the fluorescence of naphthacene built into its crystal lattice. The phenomenon can be explained by the sensitized delayed fluorescence mechanism. Since the fluorescence intensities of the energy donor and energy acceptor are proportional to the quantity of the components, the effect can be used for analytical purposes. The sensitized fluorescence (on Whatman paper) has been applied for quantitative determination of traces of naphthacene (10−9–5×10−4-M).
