Summary
Microanalyses for elemental determinations in coal with the same precision as with the international macro standard procedures is possible if the “laboratory coal sample” prescribed for the traditional standard methods (max. particle size 200–250 μm) is a carefully reground until a maximum particle size of 85 μm is obtained. The sample weight for elemental analysis can then be decreased to a few milligrams. Application of micro techniques reduces the analysis time considerably.
