Summary
-
1.
A study was made of the corrosion and erosion resistance, under active, dynamic conditions, of the new chromium carbide alloy in complex corrosive media. The alloy exhibited an excellent wear resistance at both normal and elevated temperatures, which was several times higher than that of stainless steel 1Kh18N9T and even titanium alloy VT-1.
-
2.
The corrosion and erosion resistance of the chromium carbide alloy in the complex media investigated is described by the first four grades of the COST 5272-50 scale.
-
3.
The chromium carbide alloy may be used for making sintered pump, fan, and valve gear components which show low resistance to attack by multicomponent corrosive media when made of high-alloy steel grades.
