Conclusion

  1. 1.

Intramuscular administration of ALG to guinea pigs at a dose of 5 mg/kg/day for 10 days induces the development of thymomegaly.

  2. 2.

Thymomegaly is accompanied by overproduction of STH and PL in the adenohypophysis, stimulation of lymphopoiesis (through T-lymphocytes), and depression of glucocorticoid function of the adrenals as a result of reduced ACTH secretion.

  3. 3.

In thymomegaly induced by ALG, the content of DA, NE, and serotonin in the hypothalamus increases.

  4. 4.

Zn-ACTH in a dose of 1 U/kg/day for 5–10 days is sufficient for attaining thymic involution.
