Conclusion
-
1.
The Soviet human STH preparation is an effective pathogenetic growth stimulant in HPD with endogenous STH insufficiency.
-
2.
After 12 months of treatment with STH the gain in height of HPD patients was 8.28 ±O.32 cm, and 15.6 ±O.6 cm after 24 months.
-
3.
The mean gain in height after one month was 1.28 cm, 0.76 cm/month during the next nine months, and then 0.49 cm/month until the 24th month.
-
4.
A slower gain in height is obtained with intermittent treatment than with a continuous regimen; however, in the former case sensitivity to the hormone is retained for a much longer period of time.
