On the capillary-gravity wavemaker problem

The two dimensional problem of the capillary-gravity wavemaker for an incompressible inviscid fluid is investigated. The problem is treated as an initial-boundary value problem and the cases of uniform finite depth and infinite depth are considered. A boundary condition is imposed at the liquid-solid intersection which ensures uniqueness for the problem. The solutions for the velocity potential and free surface displacement are then found as the asymptotic solution to the initial-boundary value problem.

Zusammenfassung

Das zweidimensionale Problem des Wellenerzeugers für Kapillar- und Schwerewellen für eine inkompressible Flüssigkeit ohne innere Reibung wird untersucht. Das Problem wird als Anfangs- und Randwertproblem behandelt, und die Fälle von gleichförmiger endlicher Tiefe und unendlicher Tiefe werden berücksichtigt. Eine Randbedingung wird für die Grenzfläche zwischen Flüssigkeit und fester Wand angenommen, wodurch die Eindeutigkeit des Problems gewährleistet wird. Die Lösung für das Geschwindigkeitspotential und die Verschiebung der freien Oberfläche wird dann als asymptotische Lösung des Anfangs- und Randwertproblems erhalten.
