Neuronal correlates of forward and backward conditioned connections in a food-getting reflex formed to electrical stimulation of the lateral geniculate body

Conclusions

  1. 1.

During a stable food-getting conditioned reflex to electrical stimulation of the lateral geniculate body basically two types of responses of visual cortical neurons are observed as a manifestation of the forward conditioned connection: conditioned-activating and conditioned-inhibitory.

  2. 2.

During extinction of the conditioned reflex the original neuronal pattern in the visual cortex was changed to the opposite, and was correlated with the behavioral extinction of the conditioned reflex.

  3. 3.

Neuronal indices of the backward conditioned connection are analogous to responses of visual cortical neurons during the forward conditioned connection.
