Conclusions

Microinjection of 5-HT into the basolateral region of the amygdala inhibits reproduction of motor conditioned food reflexes but does not affect unconditioned reflexes (the taking of food, the act of eating) or food motivation.

Microinjection of 5-HT into the basolateral region of the amygdala reduces spatial synchronization of potentials between the visual and sensomotor cortex and between the neocortex and hippocampus.

3.
Under the influence of 5-HT injected into the basolateral region of the amygdala generation of periodic bursts of high-frequency activity (25–35 Hz) is blocked and a slow, irregular rhythm with a frequency of 4–8 Hz is recorded from the amygdala.
