Role of adrenergic mechanisms in the regulation of the reproduction of memory engrams and the energy metabolism in the structures of the rat brain

Conclusions

  1. 1.

Under conditions of stimulation of adrenergic mechanisms, an improvement of the processes of reproduction of memory engrams is noted. Blockade of the adrenoreceptors hinder the extraction of memory engrams; moreover, the α-adrenergic systems are more significant in this process in comparison with the β-adrenergic systems.

  2. 2.

Ephedrine has a stimulating effect on all the components of the energy metabolism in the tissue of the pons Varolli. In the frontal zone of the neocortex there is a pronounced activation of processes of glycolysis and the pentose phosphate pathway, whereas changes in the indices of the energy metabolism in the hippocampus are minimal.

  3. 3.

The degree of disruption of processes of reproduction of memory engrams after administration of pyrroxan and propranolol is correlated with the severity of the decrease in the indices of the energy metabolism in the investigated structures. In this case the most pronounced changes are observed in the presence of blockade of the α-adrenoreceptors — in the tissue of the frontal cortex and pons Varolli, while in the presence of inhibition of the β-adrenorecetors changes are observed only in the frontal zone of the neocortex.
