Communication 13. Chemical properties of Meldrum's acid

Summary

Meldrum's acid reacts like 1,3-cyclohexanedione with nitrous acid and formaldehyde. Unlike 1,3-cyclohexanedione, Meldrum's acid does not form derivatives of the enol form under the action of moist ethereal diazomethane and of piperidine.
