Summary

The influence, of Coriolis force on the natural convection heat transfer in cold pure water is investigated at temperatures in the neighborhood of the density maximum temperature. The governing equations are solved numerically using Alternating-Direction-Implicit and Successive-Over-Relaxation methods, and the results obtained are presented graphically in the form of streamline and isotherm contour plots. It is found that the convection mechanism is completely suppressed for high values of the Coriolis parameter. The average heat transfer rate calculated is found to be a nonlinear function of the temperature difference between isothermal walls.
