Metalation of alkylferrocenes

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    The metalation of methyl-, ethyl-, and propyl-ferrocenes with butyllithium was studied. The alkyl substituent passivates the ferrocene nucleus in the metallation reaction. Monometalated alkylferrocenes have a heteroannular structure.

  2. 2.

    Heteroannular methylnitro-, ethylnitro-, and nitropropyl-ferrocenes were prepared.
