1.
The thermal decomposition of siliconeopentyldichlorophosphate has been studied at temperatures ranging from 80 to 200°C. at 175 to 200°C the trimethylsilylmethyl group is rearranged to form a dimethylethylsilyl group, probably as a result of the thermal heterolysis of the SiC-OP bond. This results in the formation of dimethylethylchlorosilane along with the ordinary decomposition product, viz., trimethylchloromethylsilane.

The thermal decomposition of siliconeopentyldichlorophosphate and apparently the formation of the rearranged product are subject to acid catalysis.
