Conclusions

  1. 1.

    Unsolvated zirconium perchlorate Zr(ClO4)4 has been obtained by the action of ZrCl4 on a solution of C12O7 in HClO4. If anhydrous HClO4 without an excess of Cl2O7 is used as the reagent, a hydrated product is obtained.

  2. 2.

    The IR and Raman scattering spectra of Zr(ClO4)4 indicate the covalent character of the perchlorate group bond and the bidentate type of coordination.
