Synthesis and reactions of oxygen-containing organosilicon compounds Communication 1. Synthesis of organosilicon acetals

  • Published:
Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Division of chemical science Aims and scope

Summary

  1. 1.

It has been shown for the first time, that triethylsilanol condenses with butyl vinyl and isobutyl vinyl ethers under conditions similar to those required in the corresponding syntheses with organic alcohols.

  2. 2.

Two unsymmetrical organosilicon acetals of acetaldehyde, the butyl triethylsilyl and isobutyl triethylsilyl acetals, have been synthesized and described for the first time.

  3. 3.

The proposed method is a general one for the preparation of various organosilicon acetals from alkyl vinyl ethers and trialkylsilanols.
