Summary

By the use of various conditions in the aging of nickelous oxide on a carrier by means of a steam treatment it is possible to control the activity of the nickel catalyst prepared from the nickelous oxide so that it loses its ability to hydrogenate an aromatic bond, but preserves its activity in the hydrogenation of double C = O bonds.
