Summary
-
1.
Bistetra methylenesilane, dimethylpenta methylenesilane, and symmetrical tetramethyldipentyldisiloxane were synthesized.
-
2.
it was shown that silacyclopentanes and their derivatives undergo quantitative scission at the Si-C bond in the ring when treated with concentrated sulfuric acid, the examples taken being bistetra methylenesilane and diethylbistetramethylenedisiloxane.
-
3.
It was shown that, when silacyclohexanes (the example taken being dimethylpentamethylenesilane) react with concentrated sulfuric acid, reaction proceeds in two directions- scission of the Si-C bond in the ring and elimination of a methyl group from the silicon atom.
