Summary

  1. 1.

It was shown that sodium triphenylsiloxide reacts with silicon tetrachloride with successive attachment of one, two, and three triphenylsiloxy groups to silicon.

  2. 2.

It was shown that the complete exchange of the halogens of silicon tetrafluoride and silicon tetrachloride by triphenylsiloxy groups does not occur when the silicon halide is treated with sodium triphenylsiloxide in boiling benzene, the reaction stops at ha lotris(triphenylsiloxy)silane.
