Summary
In this paper, some aspects of isotropic and anisotropic yield curves are discussed on the basis of the plastic potential by introduction of partial potentials. The significance of the Bauschinger-Effect is investigated in order to describe the mechanical behaviour of materials in which the magnitude of the uniaxial yield strength depends on the sign of stress. The anisotropic behaviour and the Bauschinger-Effect are described by tensors of rank 2, 4, and 6, whose components are to be determined by experimental data. This generalized concept is successfully applied to titanium sheets. The theory is compared with experimental results of Lee and Backofen.
