Summary

  1. 1.

    A new method is proposed for the synthesis of trialkoxytitanium chlorides by transesterification of the readily accessible triethoxytitanium chloride according to the equation:

    $$(C_2 H_5 O)_3 TiCl + 3ROH \rightleftarrows (RO)_3 TiCl + 3C_2 H_5 OH.$$

    The following previously unknown trialkoxytitanium chlorides have been synthesized:

    (n−C4H9O)3TiCl,

    b.p. 154–155°/2 mm

    (i−C4H9O)3TiCl,

    b.p. 147–148°/5 mm

    (i−C5H11O)3TiCl,

    b.p. 173–175°/2 mm

    (n−C6H13O)3TiCl,

    b.p. 182–182.5°/1 mm

    (ClCH2CH2O)3TiCl,

    b.p. 194–196°/2 mm

    (C2H5OCH2CH2O)3TiCl

    b.p. 182–183°1 mm
