Abstract

In response and in contrast to Ellis and DiGiuseppe (this issue), it is argued that the results of Cramer and Fong (1991) do provide evidence for viewing inappropriate feelings as being quantitatively rather than qualitatively distinct from appropriate feelings. Furthermore, if people generally use emotional terms imprecisely, then discriminating between the qualitative and quantitative view of inappropriate or dysfunctional feelings becomes empirically difficult.
