Summary
An asymptotic analysis for the initial postbuckling behavior of delaminated beam/plates is performed. Under the assumptions of inextensional deformation, the exact expressions that govern the plane elastic deformation of the different parts of the system are expanded in a Taylor series in terms of the distortion variable. Order of magnitude arguments are used to relate the distortion variables and these are subsequently used in an asymptotic solution for the deflections and the load. Finally, a comparison with experiments is performed.
