Summary
-
1.
The precipitate formed by reaction of phenylmagnesium bromide with fenchone was investigated, and it was shown that, contrary to Leroide's view, this substance is not a complex of fenchone with phenylmagnesium bromide, but is a complex formed between a basis magnesium salt, magnesium bromide and fenchone.

2.
2-Phenyl- and 2-p-tolyl-fenchyl alcohols were prepared in good yield with the aid of organolithium compounds.
