Synthesis and properties of α-alkoxyethyl esters of unsaturated carboxylic acids (“acylals”)

  • Published:
Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Division of chemical science Aims and scope

Summary

  1. 1.

Unsaturated acylals have been synthesized for the first time from aralkyl vinyl, aryl vinyl, and cyclohexyl vinyl ethers and methacrylic acid.

  2. 2.

The properties of the acylals obtained have been described.

  3. 3.

The relation between the rate of hydrolysis of these acylals and the structure of the ether radical has been found, and on its basis radicals have been placed in a series corresponding to a diminishing tendency in the acylals to hydrolysis.
