Summary

  1. 1.

    A study has been made of the reactions of the sodium derivative of ethyl 2-oxocyclopentanecarboxylate with 1,3-dibromopropane and with 1-bromo-3-chloropropane.

  2. 2.

    The ethyl esters of 1-(3-bromopropyl)-2-oxocycloepentane-carboxyclic acid and of 1-(3-chloropropyl)-2-oxocyclopentanecarboxylic acid have been prepared.
