A method is proposed for the quantitative evaluation of the degree of heterogeneity of distributions which is applicable to distributions of any type.

It is shown that the degree of surface heterogeneity of active carbons, as shown by the activation energy for activated adsorption, is dependent on the nature and on the quantity of the secondary constituents. In all cases an increase in the quantity of these comtiments resolts in an increase in the degree of surface heterogeneity.
