Summary
-
1.
It was shown that reaction between trialkylsilanes and elementary iodine proceeds in accordance with the equation: 2R3SiH + I2 → 2R3SiI + H2.
-
2.
Five trialkyliodosilanes, three of which were previously unknown, were synthesized in yields of 90 94%.
-
3.
It was found that trialkyliodosilanes can be synthesized in high yield also by reaction between trialkylsilanes and hydrogen iodide, which occurs in absence of catalysts.
