Determination of the purity of 1- and 2-butylnaphthalenes by ultraviolet spectroscopy

Summary

  1. 1.

    It was shown that it is possible to determine the contents of 1- and 2-alkylnaphthalenes in mixtures from the mean extinction coefficients of ultraviolet absorption maxima.

  2. 2.

    The importance of combining chemical and physical methods of investigation in the isolation of individual alkylnaphthalenes was pointed out.
