Abstract

Combinatorial formulas for Kekulé structure counts (K) of a class of benzenoids referred to as “flounders” are derived. They represent a generalization of the previously studied “pentagon-shaped” benzenoids. A special case of theK formula reproduces the well-known Catalan numbers.
