Summary
-
1.
An investigation was made into the tendency of mono- and poly- alkenylsilanes to polymerize at ordinary and high pressures.
-
2.
It was shown that the tendency of alkenylsilanes to polymerize varies with their structures.
-
3.
It was shown that increase in pressure results in increase in the rate of polymerization of alkenylsilanes and in increase in the molecular weight of the resulting polymers.
-
4.
An investigation was made into the copolymerization of methyl methacrylate with the following mono- and di-alkenylsilanes: allyldimethylphenyl-, diallyldimethyl-, diallylmethylphenyl-, and dimethylbis-2-methylallyl-silanes. Thermo-mechanical properties of the copolymers were determined.
